DPI Established
Dhaka Polytechnic Institute was established in 1955 during the Pakistan era, initially as the Technical School and College, Dhaka. It was one of the first technical education institutions in East Bengal.
Independence Era
After Bangladesh's independence in 1971, DPI continued under the new national government and expanded its departments to meet the growing demand for technical skills in the newly formed country.
Alumni Network Forms
As thousands of graduates entered the workforce, informal alumni networks began forming batch by batch. Engineers, technicians, and managers from DPI were found across every sector of the economy.
Association Formalised
The DPI Alumni Association was formally registered and structured during the 1990s, creating an organised body to connect graduates, support students, and promote DPI's legacy.
Growth & Expansion
The association grew significantly in the 2000s, establishing chapters across different districts and launching cooperative ventures to support alumni businesses and welfare.
Digital Era
The association launched this digital portal — dpisociety.org — to bring together all DPI graduates on a single platform, enabling directory search, event management, and community support.
